The sites of the Maginot Line in the Bois de Cattenom are entirely managed by a team of dedicated volunteers.
This means that all activities — visitor reception, guided tours, site maintenance, and event organization — are carried out by people who give their free time without any financial compensation.
Like everyone else, our volunteers have personal and professional lives: jobs, families, and other commitments. The time they devote to the sites is taken from their weekends, holidays, and sometimes at the expense of their rest time.
Unlike a public service or a commercial organization, we are under no obligation to remain permanently open or continuously available. Each opening is only possible thanks to the voluntary presence of association members.
We keep these sites alive out of passion for history and a desire to share this heritage with as many people as possible. Without this voluntary commitment, the sites would simply not be accessible to the public.
We therefore ask everyone to show understanding and respect for how we operate:
- Opening hours may be limited or may change depending on availability
- Some requests cannot always be fulfilled
- Responses may sometimes take a little time
We also ask visitors to respect the sites and the work carried out.
Every installation, restoration, and maintenance effort represents many hours of volunteer work.
Any damage, even minor, undermines these efforts and negatively impacts all visitors.
Your support, patience, and kindness are essential to help us continue preserving and sharing this heritage.
Thank you for your understanding and for your interest in our sites.
